Every court sets its own limit

Federal courts using CM/ECF set their own maximum PDF size, and PACER advises dividing a document that exceeds it into separate, smaller files (PACER). For example, the Second Circuit does not accept a single PDF over 10 MB (Second Circuit). State and Canadian courts have their own rules too, so always check your court's filing guide.

How splitting works here

  1. Enter the limit from your court's e-filing rules.
  2. Add the exhibit or appendix. We fill each part with as many whole pages as fit, in order.
  3. Download the parts, named Part 1 of 3, Part 2 of 3 and so on, or all of them as one ZIP.

Splitting never re-compresses your pages, so text stays searchable. If a single page is larger than the limit on its own, we flag it so you can compress just that part.

Confidential documents stay local

Court filings often contain sensitive information. Our tools run inside your browser, and the files are never uploaded to us. That makes them suitable for documents you would not send to an online converter.

Questions

Do the parts keep the original page order?

Yes. Part 1 starts at page 1, and each part continues where the previous one ended.

Will text stay searchable?

Yes. Splitting copies pages as they are, without turning them into images.

What if one page is bigger than the limit?

We mark that part as over the limit. Switch to Compress to fit for that file only.

Is this legal advice?

No. We are a file tool and not affiliated with any court. Follow your court's filing rules.
