Where 200 KB limits show up

A 200 KB cap is common on online forms that ask for a supporting document: proof of address, a certificate, a signed one-page letter or an ID copy. It is small enough that most scans need compression, but big enough that a clean one or two-page document can stay readable.

Tips for a clean result

  1. Crop the scan to the page. Dark borders and table edges add size without adding information.
  2. Use grayscale for paper documents. Most forms do not need color.
  3. Check the page count. If the form asks for one page, upload one page.
  4. Keep the original. We never change your file; you download a new copy.

Text PDFs vs scans

A PDF made from a word processor is mostly text and fonts, so it often fits without any quality loss. A scan is a picture of each page, so we lower the image resolution and quality until it fits. You see a before and after preview of the first page, so you can judge readability before you upload.

Questions

How long does it take?

A few seconds for most files. Long scans can take up to a minute, because everything happens on your device.

Can I compress several PDFs to 200 KB at once?

Yes. Add them together and download each one, or all of them in one ZIP.

The form says 200 KB but my 195 KB file was rejected. Why?

Some sites count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes. We aim just under both ways of counting, so our files pass either check.

Do you keep a copy?

No. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing for us to keep.
